モーショングラフィックスを中心に、3DCGを取り入れたグラフィカルな表現で映画やTVドラマのタイトルバックデザイン、企業CIなどのモーショングラフィックスの制作、またその企画・演出も総合的に手掛ける。
近年の活動では、日中合作映画「空海-KU-KAI-美しき王妃の謎」のOPのディレクション、日本テレビドラマ「高嶺の花」のタイトル制作、スペースシャワーTVのタイトルデザインなどのクライアントワークの他、映像作家として新宿クリエイターズフェスタ(2017,2018)に参加する。
日本科学未来館 ジオ・コスモス コンテンツ コンテストでは、魚眼カメラで撮影した素材を繋ぎ合わせ地動を表現した「Awakening horizon」、インタラクティブな要素を取り入れ、「探す」という行為自体を表現した「inside」等を発表し大賞を受賞するなど。
VRにも積極的に取り組みNEWVIEW AWARDSでは「ENCLOSURE」でKALEIDOSCOPE賞（審査員特別賞）を受賞。

NEWVIEW AWARDS 2018 KALEIDOSCOPE AWARD
With a focus on motion graphics, Kawakami uses 3DCG graphical expression in the design of titles for movies and TV dramas, as well as motion graphics production for company corporate identity work, and in addition works comprehensively throughout their planning and production.
Recently he directed the opening movie of "Demon Cat," a joint production between Japan and China, as well as other client work such as the title of the Japanese TV drama "Takamine no Hana," and Japan's most significant music TV channel “Space Shower TV," and so on.
In addition, he participated in the Shinjuku Creators Festa (2017, 2018) as a video artist.
He won the Grand Prix in Geo-Cosmos Content Contest at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation (Miraikan). The works are "Awakening horizon," which expressed geodynamics by combining materials filmed with a fisheye camera, and "inside," which showed the act of "searching" itself by incorporating interactive elements.
He is also actively involved in VR and won the Special Jury Prize (KALEIDOSCOPE AWARD) at the NEWVIEW AWARDS for ENCLOSURE.
